Surely this is a democratic site and all people who make the effort to register and make comment are entitled to do so without fear of sensorship.

The debate on the Scottish Ladies Team and some other issues, in my opinion has degenerated into farce and some of the comments being made are derisory.............................shame on the people who make these comments but I would still advocate that they are entitled to freely voice their opinions....................this is what democratic debate is all about and hopefully helps you arrive at the correct conclusion.

Considering you are anonymous, and obviously have a problem with something, what exactly are you trying to say?

sensorship is not good for democratic debate, not too difficult to understand I wouldn't have thought.

Okay. So who censored what, and when?

One post has been censored and removed by racehost.  It was crude, offensive and had nothing to do with Curling.

I am not reffering to any particular incident but now that you mention it, surely removing posts is sensorship or censorship if you prefer. We might all agree that the post which you have removed is 'crude, offensive and has nothing to do with curling' but that does not alter the author's democratic right to think it and post it.

It also doesn't alter my right to be able to read it, it just seems like a pointless kind of debate if you are asked for your opinion and pass it, and then have your opinion removed from the site, I agree that a watchful eye must be kept on postings of an offensive nature and members must be warned about their future conduct on the site.

It may well have been the case that whoever posted the offensive article may have been shot down by all other members but in this case that hasn't been allowed to happen because it has been removed by censors, surely this stifles debate.

I think there is an important point of principle at stake here!!!

Roll Eyes Sidun no one has the democratic right to post crap on any forum and expect it to stay on.
The three lads that were asked to monitor the site did so in open forum with out any objectors,
They stated they would not interfere with postings just remove offensive material.
We can not wait for everyone to read that material take a vote and then remove it, remember this forum is open to all curlers from 8 to 88

Be realistic, support volunteers who i am sure will do their best

i cannot imagine JM & co censoring the content of posts as they can be as contoversial as anybody on here.

All I want to be certain of is that if users logon willingly in order to pass opinions and that those opinions will be aired freely, I am not even aware of the content of the particular post that was removed but would hope that it wasn't from a curler who is keen to pass comment.

I would also hope that all users of this site are sensible enough to realise that personal attacks are not tolerated these days in any walk of life, and very often only serve to make the publisher of such remarks look fooloish, small-minded and petty, all users must rise above these attitudes to enhance the level of debate for the good of Scottish Curling.

I want to be able to raise some fairly controversial issues without fear of reprisal safe in the knowledge that the views expressed, although not often agreed with,  are meant for the purposes of creating debate and controversy for the good of our game.

you should go back through some of the subjects discussed since this forum was started and i think you will find plenty controversial views etc. The RCCC probaby wince if they read most of them.
so get on with it and lets get your views - controversial or not!

not all at once. ~ let's get our teeth into them.

That's what Forums are all about. I'm assuming that the Issues are Curling related.

For the benefit of those who do not understand what we as moderators try to do, allow me to explain my own attitude. If a poster is trying to explain something with factual information, I will allow almost anything within reason. On the ECF at present is a post stating "Instead, he lost the rag and abused me, calling me over and over again an arsehole". Read it yourself and you'll see that those moderators didn't edit anything either, because it is valid and appropriate.

Here on SCF we have a situation where Invicta is determined to call Ken an ****, and I cannot allow that. It is not necessarily the word, but the intention to insult someone directly, here on the forum. Now either call it quits and move on, or risk your whole contribution being removed from the forum. I believe I am being fair and if that isn't good enough, get me fired from the forum. Insulting people is best done by private message or not at all.

I'm with you John. I don't want to read childish stuff on here. Compared to the three contributions today which are well thought through, interesting to read and make you think about your own opinions....these one line retorts are a waste of space. Delete them if they continue!!!!
