Not at all. Just here in this particular thread.

Amazing that escaped you, given your profound signature.

It's nice to finally have an intelligent person with whom to converse with....

It must be a novelty having that in the US

It was only Murdoch and Byers who have been professional in Scotland. Since August the year before the women were! Edit

It was only Murdoch and Byers who have been professional in Scotland. Except for a month before the Olympics I think.

This thread needs deleted.

I'm almost certain it was in the plan that all 10 were full time from August last year.  Happy to be contradicted!

No, you're not mistaken, GMC.

All ten of the Olympic curlers were funded as full time athletes last year, the women from the end of August and the men from the end of October, apparently. I've been trying to find chapter and verse for this, and this article in a sportscotland publication has the above information:
http://www.sisport.com/sisport/4269.html?page=25

David and Euan have been fully funded by UKSport for much longer than that.

Hope this helps.

Hogline,
This information does help. Thank you very much for sharing it. I'm impressed with the resources that were dedicated to Team GB curlers. As I tried to tell Rickybobby, I wish the USA had done the same with Team USA. Thanks again for sharing that great article.

Rickybobby,
Guess you were mistaken about who was a professional, fully-funded curler. Live and learn.

The defending World champions, China, just lost their 3rd consecutive match to Eve. Final score: 14-6.

China conceded after the 8th end, during which Eve scored 6 points!

That makes China 0-3. What's going on with them?

Simple. The chinese are on the wrong program.  They are still on windows Vista whilst every one else is Windows !
.  Every one else has moved on. The Chinese are good technical curlers but once you find out their tactics  or weak points you can out play them or play against their wealkness.
it goes back to the old maxim--- 'Skips are born and not made.!!!

When asked about moving to the new Windows operating system for his computers Arnold Schwarzeneggar refused the upgrade cause 'I still like vista baby!'

Not the biggest fan of stats/percentages but noted last night that the Scotland front end were ranked 6th and 5th in the standings by a few percentage points but going by the scoring were basically matching their opposite numbers. Ms Wood after a couple of low counts was effectively 10 percentage points off the pace and ranked 8th.

Muirhead on the other hand was ranked first amongst skips with 88% compared to Jones in second on 82%.

So returning to the original post I'm assuming Muirhead has found her draw weight. And given her 4-1 record, notwithstanding the slip against Germany, she is clearly making the most of what her team are giving her.

Hopefully she can maintain her form. Some big games to come. Not sure of Ms Murdoch's tactical credentials but having listed to the time out discussion with the coach in the Germany game along with the previous Olympic advice, would suggest she ditches the time-outs and goes with her instinct.

Can you point me in the direction of where to find the cumulative stats. I was hunting for them this morning with no success. Thanks.
