Dear all,

Following the great success of last year’s event, the Stirling Summer Skins will take place in Stirling again this year.  You are invited to enter the fun, sociable competition which takes place between Friday 16th and Sunday 18th July 2010 at The Peak Ice Rink based in Forthbank, Stirling, Scotland.  The Peak is a fantastic new facility with a wide variety of sports available such as swimming and climbing as well as a 6 sheet ice rink.

The entry fee for the competition is £200 per team and we hope to have a full complement of 32 teams participating. Teams can be male, female or mixed and there are no age restrictions.  Games will be run in a skins format with group stages on the Friday and Saturday.  Playoffs will be on the Sunday, when we’ll find out who is Stirling Summer Skins Champion 2010!!  Cash prizes are available for all games.  You are guaranteed a minimum of 3 games.

There are very good catering and bar facilities available overlooking the ice rink.  Information about room rates from the player’s hotel, the Holiday Inn Express will be sent nearer the time as well as transport information and payment options for your entry fee.

If you have any questions on anything regarding the tournament please contact Logan Gray on (44) 07736 941861 or bogz29@hotmail.com.

The deadline for entries will be the 14th June 2010.  Entries after this date will be placed on the reserve list.  Entries will only be accepted by email to the address above.  A draw and location map will be distributed to skips soon after this date.

Please pass on the word to anyone who you think may be interested!

Yours sincerely
Logan Gray

'curlboy' I'll second that.

The video does credit to the sport and I have passed the link to some of my friends who think that I'm mildly touched. They'll not change their mind but at least they'll see how we can enjoy the game.

I feel that I must congratulate the Cameraman for his steady hand. Last time I tried anything like that, even with one of those Gorilla thingies, my shots were all over the place.

Thanks guys. It is all a bit of an experiment at the moment, and quite fun learning new things. My initial aim is to learn how to use iMovie software, as part of the process of rescuing old video footage, and editing out interesting clips for all to watch. Hopefully down the line you'll see the results of all this.

Eddie, iMovie is great. It flags up what bits are particularly shaky, and you can simply cut these out. Or it could be my clean living, upstanding, and sober lifestyle - relative to yours of course - that gives me a steady hand!

The summer skins is a FUN competition, with lots of partying. Not maybe for everyone, of course, but I must say I enjoyed what I saw of it, and very well done to Logan Gray for organising it so well.

What a wonderful weekend of curling at the Stirling Skins - not only curling of a VERY high standard at times, but also the sheer sense of fun & "bonhomie" by all participants.
And it was also good to see more of the older generation taking part - I agree with Logan that the competition should NOT be regarded as solely for the young 'uns. Sure, they managed to party 24/7 over the weekend & there were a few looking a bit frail especially on the Saturday morning but that didn't detract from the quality of play throughout the competition.
It was also interesting that some of the more fancied sides didn't quite perform. I think the different tactics & strategies required for a skins format took its toll - occasional puzzled expressions & head scratching seemed to typify that.
Finally a word of thanks to Logan Gray & the Peak ice staff for producing pretty damn good quality ice & organising the event so efficiently despite last minute call offs etc.
30 teams this season - let's see some more of the auld folks entering next year please?
