Now ~ This is closer to reality!

http://curlingtoday.blogspot.com/2008/06/new-rule-to-limit-damage-to-ice.html

A glove, a set of rubber thimbles, what.

Apart from the slight jocularity. I think that this new ruling is important.

In one of the clubs that I play in we have a brilliant Skip who lies on the Ice to watch his Stone home. We've all tried to stop him, but to no avail.

Just my usual - a pair of mitts that when not on my hand go down the back of my breiks to keep them warm!

I'm still not planning to wear anything (er, on my fingers that is...)

Occasionally my fingers skirt along when I have let go of a delivery but John M says this is not the problem, it's prolonged contact which is

I think it's the obvious cases of long contact which everyone knows who the guilty parties are in their own rink.

That kind of sprawing should also be clamped down on, although don't you find that most of the people who do it are those 'experienced' types, who a) should know better and b) would need a brave soul to constantly tell them off!

I recall telling you loads of times not to touch the ice Gordino Smiley  No really, this can be an issue but I find most people listen and take note and as suggested by Gordon, it is normally the ones who have been around a while that are teh repeat offenders?

I must be half a bird then - I always wear a glove on my non-delivering hand.

At least we have a start. Clearly, bare hands on the ice is a hanging offence.  Fingertips should only attract the minimal penalty of amputation.  I started wearing a glove on my throwing hand about 10 years ago when I could no longer guarantee that I could throw without touching the ice.

I try to and get back up as soon as after my shot. If the shot I have just played is, miraculously good, which doesn't happen very often (hence the miraculous bit), and I want to watch, then I squat on the ice instead.

Yes, I have to agree without doubt that it is usually the most experienced who  stay in a potentially ice melting sprawled position for their shot. You see them, practically lying on it, which just looks a bit cold to me.

P.S. no, I don't wear gloves as I have no real need to, although, I do have the white patch just below my knee, so I must be making contact with the ice still.

I get left with a white patch too but I don't actually make contact with the ice with my knee ( physically ). The trousers I wear are quite good and don't deposit fibres which can cause pick ups

Well, I don't feel anything, so either I'm doing it without realising it somehow, or, my trousers hang down just enough.

Suppose I should get better trousers and see. If it still happens, then ...err.

He he Meanmegs glad to hear it.

Red Lippy and Fingerless gloves might not be a good match for the curling rink I suppose
